Mrs. Latrice V. Hiatt

Mrs. Latrice Elaine Vernon Hiatt, age 80 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Hiatt was born in Surry County on August 11, 1933 to Claude and Gennie Poore Vernon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many who will be dearly missed. Surviving are her devoted husband Roy J. Hiatt; a son, Dennis Hiatt (Toni); a daughter Doris Hawkins (Cecil); grandchildren, Keisha Burcham (Terry), Kasey Hiatt, Brent Hawkins (Lindsay) and Stefan Hawkins (Celeste); six great granddaughters; sisters, Claudia Browning, Labenia Benfield and Jewell Hutchens (Charles) and a brother, Alfred Vernon (Edith). In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hiatt was preceded in death by a son, Charles Hiatt; a sister, Juanita Mell and brothers, Carlos and James Vernon. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 20, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Sam McCracken and Bobby Sylvia. Burial will follow in the Hiatt Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017.
