Mrs. Laura Jeannette Spangler Terry Shelor

Mrs. Laura Jeannette Spangler Terry Shelor, age 101 of Meadows of Dan, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at her home. She was born in Patrick County on March 25, 1913 to the late Frank W. and Lottie Singleton Spangler. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shelor was preceded in death by her first husband, Kennett Terry; her second husband, Raymond Shelor; two sisters, Myrtle Yeatts and Mary Magalene Spangler; and three brothers, Dorn, Allen and Lonas Spangler. She was a founding member of Mayberry Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Shelor is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Garland M. and Helen Sue Terry of Pfafftown, North Carolina, Herman B. and Judy Terry of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; a special nephew, W. Gerald Yeatts of Martinsville; and other special nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Mrs. Shelor will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 12:00 noon at
Mayberry Presbyterian Church with Pastor Stewart Childress officiating. Burial will follow in the Spangler Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and other times at the home. If desired, memorials may be made to Community Building Fund, Mayberry Presbyterian Church, c/o Martha Nyquiest, 995 Willis Road, Meadows of Dan, Virginia 24120, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
