Mrs. Lois Spencer Wood

Mrs. Lois Spencer Wood, age 89, of Martinsville, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on July 28, 1925 to the late W. A. and Fannie Rorrer Spencer. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Harvey and Leonard Spencer; and five sisters, sisters, Mildred Sigmon, Bernice Woods, Sybil Martin, Cornelia Spencer and Doris Spencer. She had been a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church for 54 years.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband of 72 years, James W. Wood, Sr.; two children, Jim Wood of Cary, North Carolina, Marcia Jones and husband, Michael, of Patrick Springs; two grandchildren, Christopher Jones of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Erin Carroll and her husband, Lewis, of Patrick Springs.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Roselawn Burial Park with Pastor Mark Elkins officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren, Attn: Cemetery Fund, 144 Mount Herman Church Road, Bassett, Virginia 24055 or to Pleasant Grove Christian Church, 5232 Preston Road, Martinsville, Virginia 24112.
