Mrs. Madelene Ziegler Roberson

Mrs. Madelene Ziegler Roberson, age 87 of Stuart passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at her home. She was born in Patrick County on July 4, 1926. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Susan Ziegler; her husband, Ralph Roberson; a son, Mitchell Wray Tatum; and a brother, Gordon Ziegler. Mrs. Roberson was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Stuart where she had served as a Deacon, Treasurer, Usher, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was a member of the Disciple Women's Ministry, and was Mother of the Church. She was known as the distributor of the Daily Bread Devotional and loved giving away $2.00 bills.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter in law, Elder Dr. Larry D.and Iris Tatum of Cleveland, OH, Dr. Houston Roberson of Sewanee, TN; four daughters and sons in law, Elaine and Charlie Thomas of Stuart, Preacher Sheila and Albert Thomas of Stuart, Teresa Roberson of Charlotte, NC, Olivia (ABD) and Kem Givens of Charlotte, NC; 12 grandchildren, Amanda Holmes, LaDonna Tatum, Christopher Thomas, Gregory Thomas, Derrick Thomas, Cynthia Robinson, Amy Craven, Nekeyda Tatum-Wimbush, Corey Thomas, Angela Tatum-Morning, Kimberly Tatum, Bradley Thomas; 17 great grandchildren; one sister and brother in law, Juanita and Bill Hairston of Martinsville; and special friends, Barbara Nowlin, Virginia Loggins, and Iva Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Dr. Roger Hagwood and Elder Dr. Larry D. Tatum officiating. Burial will follow in the Patrick Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
