Mrs. Mallie M. Beck

Mrs. Mallie Lee Mabe Beck, age 95 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, at her home. Mrs. Beck was born in Surry County on July 4, 1919 to Walter Bishop and Fannie Mae Pike Mabe. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Surviving are a daughter, Vickie Leake; grandchildren, Jermaine Leake, Marquia Vanderburg and husband Jeff; Isaac Leake and wife Felicia and Johnny Leake, Jr.; great grandchildren, Mikey Vanderburg and Katie Allen; a special friend, Daniel Holzworth and special pets, Sasha, Bossy, Scruffy, Little Bit and Hawk. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Beck was preceded in death by her husband, Esker Franklin Beck; her son-in-law, Johnny Leake, Sr.; a great grandson, Anthony Leake and a brother, Raymond Mabe. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 24th at The Salvation Army.
