Mrs. Mamie Audrey Hiatt

Mrs. Mamie Audrey White Hiatt, age 92, Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Woltz Hospice Home, near the beautiful foothills where she grew up. Mrs. Hiatt was born in Carroll County on September 21, 1922 to John Walter and Florence Viola Whitt White. She had such a loving and kind heart; she was not only a wonderful mother and grandmother to her own, she also cared for and shared such tenderness with the neighbor's children, or any child, as if they were her own. Mrs. Hiatt retired from Pine State Knitwear and was a member of First Christian Church of Galax. Surviving are her husband, Lindy Hiatt; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Larry Hinshaw; granddaughter, Erin Wooten and husband Greg, great granddaughters, Sarah Dinkins and Meredith Dinkins; and a great-great grandson, Wyatt Styers. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hiatt was preceded in death by a son, Roger Dotson and six siblings. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Elmo Hiatt. Burial will follow in Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
