Mrs. Margaret New Abernathy

Mrs. Margaret Marie New Abernathy, age 82 of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Abernathy was born in Surry County on June 18, 1931 to James and Lelia Senter New. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her husband, Frank Abernathy; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Gary Ellison of Yadkinville; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Puckett, Jr. and wife Robin of Kernersville; David and LuAnn Puckett of Lexington; Ricky and Tisha Puckett of Mt. Airy; E. Gary Puckett of Galax, VA; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Abernathy was preceded in death by sons, Ronald Puckett and Stephen Puckett; four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 24, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or The Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express a special thanks to Golden Living Nursing Home, Mountain Valley Hospice and the Woltz Hospice Home for the exceptional care given to Mrs. Abernathy.
