Mrs. Margaret Jane "Polly" Short Fagg, age 93 of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Fagg was born in Surry County on September 11, 1922 to Frank Jackson and Mary Maggie Midkiff Short. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wonderful friend to so many in the community. Mrs. Fagg was a devoted member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Rhonda Fagg, Pete and Brenda Fagg and Sylvia Fagg; grandchildren, Brandon Fagg Cooke and wife Susie, Robert Morris and wife Elizabeth, Lisa Jessup and husband Joe, Lori Coe and husband Luke, Stephanie Presnell, Stephen Fagg and wife Amanda; step grandchildren, Melissa Baskin and Joseph Griffin; fifteen great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fagg was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Poe Fagg, Sr.; a son, Kenneth (Kenny) Duane Fagg; sisters, Annie Stevens and Vannie Hemmings and brothers, George Short and Everett Montgomery Short. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Richard Loman and Rev. Stewart Mauck. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church or Mount Airy Public Library. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love, compassion and care shown by Debbie Casstevens and Denise Slate; Wake Forest Baptist, Kathy Johnson and Wilkes Hospice Care.
