Mrs. Margaret Sumner Nichols

Mrs. Margaret Sumner Nichols, 92, of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, April, 21 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Carroll County on August 2, 1921 to the late Wilford and Cora Elizabeth Thomas Sumner. Mrs. Nichols was retired from Smart Top Knitware and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Lura Brintle of Mt. Airy, Martha and Peter McGuire of Gainsville, FL; four sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Nichols, Jr. and Linda, James Nichols, Robert C. Nichols all of Mt. Airy, George Nichols and Helen of Illestison, Germany; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilford Sumner, Jr. and Georgia, Charles Sumner and Dora all of Mt. Airy, Leroy Sumner and Bonnie of Ararat, NC; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Woodrow Nichols, Sr.; a son, John Nichols; a sister, Pauline Sumner Sumner; two brothers, Clarence and George L. Sumner. A graveside service will be held Friday, April 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery with the Chaplain Stewart Roten officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy Friday from 12:30 PM until time to go to the cemetery for the service.
