Mrs. Margaret Bennett Young

Mrs. Margaret Jean Bennett Young, age 83, of St. Johns, Fl., passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 in Florida. Mrs. Young was born in Ellerbe, NC on March 1, 1931 to Roscoe and Lillian Blackburn Bennett. Mrs. Young was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her devoted family and friends. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joycelyn Young of St. John, FL; a daughter-in-law, Vickie Young of Asheboro; grandchildren, Matthew Young, Brianna Young, David Young, Renee Salati, Troy Young and Katie Young; five great grandchildren; sisters, June Edwards and Joyce Alford; brothers and a sister-in-law, Allen Bennett and Johnny and Kay Bennett; half-sisters, Averil Jackson and Lynn Anderson and half-brothers, David Bennett and William Bennett. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Haywood Young; a son, Lester Wayne Young; a sister, Merrill Lucky and by a brother, Richard Bennett. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 9, 2014 at White Plains Baptist Church by Rev. Tom Delph, Rev. Steve Delph and Rev. Bill Tucker. Mrs. Young will lie in state at the church for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Plains Christian School at 614 Old Hwy 601, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
