Mrs. Marian Burgess Stephens

Mrs. Marian Burgess Stephens, age 86, of Stuart passed away Sept. 2, 2015 at her home. She was born on July 4, 1929 in Greenwood, SC to the late William R. and Mary Jarrett Burgess. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil William Stephens, Sr, whom she married in June of 1946; two brothers, Calvin and Jerry Burgess; and one sister, Nancy Burgess. Mrs. Stephens graduated from Schoolfield High School in Danville. She worked as a computer programmer for The Department of the Army at Ft. Monroe, VA and retired after 30 years of service. She was an avid student of the Bible. She deeply loved the Lord, her family, and friends.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Andrea and Noel Kornett of Patrick Springs, Amy Stephens of Newport News; one son and daughter-in-law, Cecil William Stephens, Jr and wife, Lori of Urbanna, VA; four grandchildren, Brian Kornett and wife, Traci, Amy Kegley and husband, Micah, Andrew Kornett and wife, Susan, Jessica Stephens and Alaska; four great grandchildren, Bryce, Calvin, Joanna, and Wiley; two sisters, Joan Flake of Frederick, MD, Patsy Harris of Mechanicsville, VA; one brother, William Burgess of Anderson, SC; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Cash Burgess of Raleigh, NC, and Jean Burgess of Matthews, NC.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial will be private. The family will have a visitation and luncheon immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers and memorial donations, Marian would want you to love and spend time with your families building relationships and making memories because life is so short and "O" so precious.
