Mrs. Marie Katherine Hiatt Johnson

Mrs. Marie Katherine "Nanny" Hiatt Johnson age 95 of 563 Indian Grove Church Road, Mt. Airy, NC widow of Mr. Orby F. Johnson passed away Tuesday morning, December 9, 2014 at her home. She was born September 7, 1919 in Surry County to the late Ashby and Maude Ella Belton Hiatt. She was a a member of Shelton Church of the Brethren where she served in many capacities and was a homemaker. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Leroy and Juanita Johnson of Mt. Airy, two grandaughters and spouses, Paige and Michael Cartledge of Mt. Airy and Candace and Chris Norman of Mt. Airy, sisters, Joan Gammons, of Mt. Airy and Doris Vernon of Mt. Airy, brother, George W. Hiatt, Memphis, TN. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Hiatt and six brothers, Raymond Hiatt, Edsel Hiatt, Bobby Lee Hiatt, Arlyss Hiatt, Arnold Hiatt and Royst Hiatt, Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Shelton Church of The Brethren. The service will be conducted by Rev. Ted Turner. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10-11:00 am Thursday at Shelton Church of the Brethren. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Shelton Church of the Brethren, 1065 Quaker Road, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
