Mrs. Marie Dean Whitaker

Mrs. Marie Dean Whitaker, 87 passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Central Continuing Care. She was born in Carroll County, Virginia on March 10, 1928 to the late John Efrin and Zula Easter Dean. Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her husband, Robert Wood Whitaker; two daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and Larry Jones and Beulah and Charles Blalock; grandchildren, Crystal Selba and husband, Jimmy, and Hannah Ashburn; great granddaughter, Lennon Michele Selba; and a sister and brother-in-law, Rosa Lee and Richard Elliott. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Wayne and David Whitaker; two sisters, Vergie Self and Myrtle Dean; and three brothers, Calvin, Clyde and Johnny Dean. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 31, 2015 at moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 until the time of the service.
