Mrs. Mary Lee Marshall Burnette, age 71 of King, North Carolina passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with her family by her side. She was born in Patrick County on January 28, 1943 to the late Daniel Mervin Marshall and Ethel Hooker Marshall, and lived in King, North Carolina most of her adult life. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burnette was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Burnette; a grandson, Anthony Burnette, which was a loss that truly broke her heart; and three brothers, Glenn "Bootie", Vance "Bo" and Daniel "Jr." Marshall. She was a member of the Bible Revival Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kernersville. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and most importantly was a Child of God.
Mary is survived by five sons, Clayton Burnette of Pinnacle, North Carolina, Donald Lee Burnette of King, North Carolina, Dwayne Ray Burnette of Lewisville, North Carolina, Jay Vann Burnette and Rodney Allen Burnette, both of King, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Jason, Timmy, Andy, Chris, Heather, Cody and Faith Ann; nine great-grandchildren, Levi, Aaron, Michah, Kyleigh, Summer, Arya, Elizabeth, Jackson and Little Anthony; one brother, Everett Marshall of Meadows of Dan;and two sisters, Norma Jean Sands of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina and Brenda Adams of Pinnacle.
Funeral services for Mrs. Burnette will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Bill Daniels and Rev. Randal Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadows of Dan Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
