Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gilley

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gilley, age 75 of Bassett, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She was born in Roanoke on March 22, 1937 to the late Garnett and Beulah Johnson Williams. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gilley was preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Foley; a granddaughter, Candace Clark; and a grandson, Michael Foley. She was a member of Smith River Church of the Brethren, and was a loving, caring and giving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Mrs. Gilley is survived by her husband, Danny Gilley of the home; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike Foley and Lisa Spencer of Bassett; William Gilley and Steven Gilley who are both serving in the United States Army and are stationed at Fort Wainwright in Alaska; one daughter, Donna Foley Clark of Bassett; five grandchildren, Matt Foley, Brittney Clark, Cody Foley, Amber Foley and Brandon Spencer; and one great-grandson, Jayden Foley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gilley will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the New Hope Church of the Brethren with Pastor Danny Gilley and Pastor Rick Randall officiating. Burial will follow in the Foley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church, and other times at the home.
