Mrs. Mary Ellen Sutphin Johnson

Mrs. Mary Ellen Sutphin Johnson, passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. She was born December 12, 1932 to the late Eva Hicks Sutphin and Clarence Sutphin. She retired as a nurse's aid. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, William Leroy Johnson of Cana, VA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rickie Johnson of Pinnacle and Gary and beloved daughter-in-law, Pat Johnson of Cana, VA; two daughters and one son-in-law, Melissa and Jamie Bobbitt of Cana, VA and Janie Rippey of Greensboro; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Sutphin of Mt. Airy; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews, including three special nieces, Debbie Craddock, Gayleen Hall and Donna Sloan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Levi Brewster; three sisters, Polly Hall, Marie Norman and Kathleen Sutphin; her grandparents, Laura Midkiff Hicks, Joe Hicks and Cora Kirkman Sutphin and Conse Sutphin; two sisters-in-law and their spouses, Gladys and Alex Easter and Lela and Sterling Combs. A graveside service will be conducted at Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 3:30 PM by Rev. Roland McCraw and Rev. David Sechrist. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, however the family will receive friends at the home. Moody Funearl Home in Mt. Airy will be assisting the Johnson Family.
