Mrs. Mary Lou McMillian Jones, 70 of Cana, VA passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Carroll County, VA to the late Stonewall Jackson and Alverta Easter McMillian on May 23, 1945. She retired from ASMO Appalachian and was a faithful member of Mount Airy Church of God for over 40 years. Mrs. Jones was a loving mother, grandmother sister and a friend. She greeted everyone with her warm smile and gracious personality. Mrs. Jones had a generous heart and was always doing for her family and friends. She truly lived her life by the verse, it is better to give than receive. Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Donald Ray Jones, sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Shannon Jones, Tony and Jennifer Jones; grandchildren, Adam Jones, Ryan Jones, Alex Jones, Katie Jones, Daniel Jones and Emily Jones; sisters and Brothers-in-law, Beulah Edwards, Bertie and Marlie Hawks, Imogene and Bob Hodge and Joyce and Bill Samuel; a half-sister, Essie Mayes; numerous special nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by brothers, Robert McMillian, Raleigh McMillian; sister, Blanche Williams; half-brothers, Raymond, Roger and Joel McMillian; half-sister, Ocie Felts. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Mount Airy Church of God with Pastor Charles Powers and Pastor Don Whichard. Burial will follow in the Jesse Jones Family Cemetery in Cana, VA. The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday from 11:00 until 2:00.
