Mrs. Mary Adeline Huebsh Quisenberry, age 89 of Woolwine, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. On September 26, 1925, a little girl named Mary Adeline was born to Naomi and Milton Huebsh. They never dreamed how loved she would be by hundreds of people all over the world. At three years old, she started learning a skill that would serve her all her life. Because her grandmother, Mary Huebsh, was hard of hearing, her mother allowed her to go there and plunk on the piano since it did not bother Grandma. Soon she was picking out tunes and became a very good piano player and later picked up the accordion. In her many years on the mission field, she played her accordion in many street meetings and camps. In later years at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection where she lived, she played her keyboard to those that lived and worked there. She was never a great public speaker or sought out the limelight, but her quiet loving kindness reached out to everyone she met, touching and changing many lives. During the Vietnam war, she became "Mom" to many young men while she and her husband, Rev. William Edward "Bill" Quisenberry, served as missionaries in Okinawa and authored a book together called I Planted A Seed. She made hundreds of meals for the many GI's, two of whom became her sons-in-law. Out of this work in Okinawa, there are dozens of ministers and missionaries that are in the ministry today. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Quisenberry, who passed away on September 11, 1998; a daughter, Susie Conkin; a son, Freddy Quisenberry; and a brother, Milton Huebsh. She was a member of New Hope Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by five children, Bonnie Dennis, William Quisenberry, Evelyn Armstrong, Ruth Powers and Lottie Spencer; eighteen grandchildren; fifty-four great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Carla Daily; and a brother, Norman Crabb.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Church of the Brethren with Pastor Rick Randall officiating. A special thank you from the family for the loving care given to her at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection over and above the call of duty. Also to the many church family from New Hope Church of the Brethren who visited and cared for her.
