Mrs. Mary Frances Chrismon Southard

Mrs. Frances Chrismon Southard, 73, of Elkin passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Joan and Howard Woltz Home as her family gathered around her bedside in a circle of prayer. She was born in Surry County on October 7, 1938 to the late Carl Richard and Manervia Atkins Chrismon. Mrs. Southard was retired from Proctor-Silex and a dedicated member of Bessie's Chapel Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of fifty five years, Algeron Southard, of the home; her children and spouses, Debbie and John Clack of Clayton, Stan Southard, James and Loretta Southard all of Elkin and Rebecca and Scott Moore of Thurmond; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Margie Dezern of Dobson and Ellen and Ronald Stanley of Elkin; several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Stanley and a brother, Harvey Chrismon. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, October 25, 2011at Bessie's Chapel Baptist Church by Rev. Mitchell Robertson and Rev. Ralph Grose with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm on Monday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service.
