Mrs. Melba Ocia Freeman Holder

Mrs. Melba Ocia Freeman Holder, age 93, of Dobson went home to be with Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on April 14, 1921 to the late Sherman and Nettie Mitchell Freeman. Mrs. Holder was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to serving God and caring for her family. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Freeman Douglas and Sandra Holder, of Dobson; three granddaughters, Myra Kaye Holder Tucker, of Rural Hall, Melissa Renea Holder, of Mount Airy and Jodie Rebecca and husband Bobby Mathis, of Dobson; special friends, Angela Harold, of Mount Airy and Erica Hill, of Rural Hall. In addition to her parents, her beloved husband, Douglas Cleve Holder and a brother, Bill Freeman preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by the Rev. Jimmy McCraw with burial to follow in the Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, January 26, 2015 and other times at her home at 1232 Caves Mill Road, Dobson, NC. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN. 38105.
