Mrs. Melissa Carter Taylor Poole

Mrs. Melissa Carter Taylor Poole, age 62, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Poole was born in Butler County, Alabama on October 7, 1954, to Margaret Hennis Taylor and the late Billy Venable Taylor. She graduated from Western Carolina and was a retired school teacher after faithfully serving the North Carolina School System for 31 years. Among the many that will always cherish her memory and her sweet smile are her beloved husband, Thomas Poole, Sr.; her mother, Margaret Hennis Taylor; a sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Mike McCabe; brothers, Hugh Taylor, and David Taylor; a niece, Amy Scott, a nephew, Charlie Scott; great nephews, Aiden and Carter; a step daughter, Julie Anne Poole; step sons, Thomas M. Poole, Jr. and wife Melissa, Adam Poole, Justin Poole and wife Angela, and Mark Poole; and step grandchildren, Tiffani, Jasmine, Tripp, Emma, and Allie. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 17, 2017 at First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church at 714 N. Main St., Mount Airy, NC 27030; to the Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017 or to Surry Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 981, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
