Mrs. Mildred West Martin, age 90, of Stuart, Virginia went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2015 at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation in Elkin, NC. She was born to the late Andrew Bennett West and Emma Hall West. She graduated from Meadows of Dan High School in Virginia. She worked in the shipyards at Newport News, Virginia and later was a dedicated farmer's wife and homemaker. She was an active member of Peters Creek Baptist Church, which she loved dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William R. Martin, and brothers; Jesse, Bud, and Glidewell West.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughters, Sue M. Redden (Steve) of Jonesville, NC, and Carol M. Luckey (Tony) of Denver, NC; grandchildren, Steven Drum of Winston-Salem, NC, and Amy Drum of Winston-Salem, NC; great granddaughter, Bailee Drum of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters; Marie Combs of Clemmons, NC, and Lucy L. Cruise of Vesta, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Martin will be held at Peters Creek Baptist Church on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Terry Ragsdale officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
