Mrs. Minnie Leila Dockery Holder

Mrs. Minnie Leila Dockery Holder, age 94 of Elkin passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Holder was born in Surry County on February 25, 1921 to the late Talmadge William and Elizabeth Moncus Dockery. She was a retired Certified Nurse's Assistant after twenty-two years of dedicated service and was retired from Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Her life was dedicated to God, her family and helping others. She will long be remembered by her keen sense of humor and sharp mind. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Diane Holder Anthony and Eric Dale Holder, both of Elkin; her beloved grandchildren, Roger Brian Anthony of State Road and Kirby Anthony of Pilot Mountain; a special great-granddaughter, Katlin Nicole Anthony of State Road; three sisters, with whom she shared a very special relationship, Lucille D. Southard of Elkin, Dorothy D. Naylor and Maxine D. Stanley; a special niece, Pat Southard of Elkin and a dear friend, Betty Sue Norman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Quentin Holder; a daughter, Janet Payne; three brothers, Robert, Bill and Ernest Dockery; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by the Rev. Don Ball and Eulogy by her daughter, Diane. Burial will follow in Bessie's Chapel Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8pm. Earth's loss is Heaven's gain.
