Mrs. Nancy Diane Carter Pride, age 56 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on June 1, 1957 to the late Willie Carter and Beatrice Webster France. Her husband of 34 years, Jimmy Lee Pride, Sr., 67 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. He was born in Quincy, Florida on June 6, 1946 to the late James and Fibbie Brinson Pride. They resided in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina prior to moving to Stuart. They were a devoted husband and wife, parents, grandparents, sister and brother, aunt and uncle, and were faithful friends to all who knew them.
Mr. And Mrs. Pride are survived by four sons, Leon Carter, Chris Pride, James Pride, all of Stuart, and Jimmy Pride, Jr. of Petersburg; and four grandchildren, Cecelia Hylton, Harmony Carter, Qualeak Pride and Trezell Pride. Mrs. Pride is also survived by three brothers, James Carter, Benny Carter and Michael Carter, all of Stuart, and an aunt, Wilma Carter of Stuart; Mr. Pride is also survived by two brothers, James Pride (a special friend, Pam), Roosevelt Pride of Rochester, New York; seven sisters, Janie Pride Monroe, Annie Pearl (Kenneth) Reed, Bobbie Jean (Ulysses) Francis, Annie Lois (Charles) Lurry and Gloria Jean Pride, of Rochester, New York, Patricia Ann Pride/Jack Benefield of Quincey, Florida and Elizabeth Hill of Miami, Florida. They are also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
A joint funeral service for Mr. and Mrs. Pride will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Willie Covington and Elder Manuel Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in the Hylton Thessalonia Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. A wake will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service, and the family will receive friends at other times at the home.
