Mrs. Nancy Barbrow Russell

Mrs. Nancy Barbrow Russell, age 79 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008 at R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Smyth County on May 11, 1929 to the late Charles Wesley Barbrow and Olivine Blevins Barbrow. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Russell; a daughter, Carmen Diane Russell; step-mother, Eula Barbrow; and a brother, Richard Barbrow. She was a cosmetologist.
Mrs. Russell is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Yevonne B. and Guy S. Clear of Saltville; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Elsie Barbrow of Columbus, Georgia; Jack and Carol Barbrow, Jim and Patsy Barbrow and Graham and Janice Barbrow, all of Saltville and Carl and Mona Barbrow of Abingdon; and special friends, Shelby Blankenship, Rev. Jim and Ethel Churchwell, Susan Goad, Darlene Holt, Mary Lou Lawless, Judy Ray-Morton, James S. and Willie Mae Ray, Lloyd Stovall, Ray and Eva Vaughn, Marilyn Yarber, Mary Arrington and Barry Curry. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mrs. Russell will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Jim Churchwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, Virginia with Rev. Jonathan Jonas officiating.
