Mrs. Naomi Beatrice Blackburn McMillan, age 99 of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. McMillian was born in Carroll County on August 5, 1914 to Sanford and Mae Hawks Blackburn. She was a loving mother, grandmother and dear friend who will long be remembered for her kindness toward others. Mrs. McMillan was a member of Grace Moravian Church. Surviving are a son, Steve McMillan; a granddaughter, Christina McMillan; half-sisters, Edna White, Mabel Puckett, Opal Cox and Ora Blackburn; half-brothers, Roy Blackburn and wife Mary Ruth and Denzel Blackburn and wife Gaye; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend and caregiver, JoAnn McMillian. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McMillan was preceded in death by her husband of fifty five years, James Franklin McMillan; a brother, Elmer Blackburn; sisters, Bertha Cox, Iris Yopp and Ethel Nichols and a half-brother, Ferrell Blackburn. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Grace Moravian Church by Rev. Tony Hayworth. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday beginning at 1:00 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
