Mrs. Nelma Upchurch Robinson

Mrs. Nelma Upchurch Robinson, 63 of Lambsburg, VA, loving wife of John Alexander Robinson for 45 years passed away at her home Monday, January 06, 2014. Nelma was born in Carroll County, VA on July 27, 1950. She was the seventh child of the late William Jasper and Eliza Rebecca Faulkner Upchurch. She lived in Lambsburg and in Galax all of her life. She graduated from Galax High School in 1967. She worked in several hosiery mills both in Galax and in Mt. Airy; spending 15 years at Renfro, but retiring from Nester's Hosiery just a year or so ago. She loved to garden , can fruits and vegetables, and work in her flowers. She was also one of the best cooks around, never needing a recipe or a measuring spoon, always knowing how much to add just by the way it looked or felt to her hand. Surviving are her devoted husband, John Alexander Robinson of the home; three caring daughters and two sons-in-law, Janene and Michael "Peanut" Moss of Lambsburg, Kristie Renee Robinson of Hillsville and Johnetta and Neil Dawson of Cana; four cherished grandchildren, Alex Moss, Faith Robertson, John Austin Robinson and Jacklyn Underwood; a step granddaughter, Lindsey Dawson, five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Loretta "Sister" Smith, Thelma and Corbett Bryant all of Lambsburg, Alma and Russell Haynes of Winston Salem, Elizabeth "Susie" Williams of Kernersville and Wilma and Arnold Triplet of Burlington, NC; one brother, William Elmer Upchurch of Lambsburg; and a sister-in-law, June Upchurch of Lambsburg. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Upchurch. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Lambsburg Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Rev Wes Mosteller and Rev. Dud Spencer. Burial will follow in the Edwards-Upchurch Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on 6-8 pm Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home.
