Mrs. Nettie Adams Parries

Mrs. Nettie Adams Parries, 93, of Mount Airy, died Monday afternoon, December 1, 2014 at Central Continuing Care nursing home. Nettie was born on October 21, 1921 in Pineville, WV. She was the daughter of the late Robert Moses Adams and Mary Etta Byrd Adams. Nettie was employed as a seamstress in her earlier years at Spencer's. In the 1960s, she joined her daughter, Sylvia Inman, at Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio, where she worked until retiring in 1991. Nettie was also a member of Bannertown Baptist Church. Nettie was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Bob Glenn (Tommie) Parries, and her son, Robert (Bob) Parries. Survivors include her daughter, Sylvia Inman and her husband Bud of Pilot Mountain; son Dale Parries and his wife Margaret of Pilot Mountain; daughter-in-law Carol Parries of Buies Creek, NC; and son David Parries of Providence, RI; four granddaughters Gigi Inman of Pilot Mountain; Kim Inman Pratt and husband Gary of Leesburg, GA; Julie Inman Thomas and husband Jerald of Johnson City, TN; and Melanie Parries Rodgers of Sanford, NC; five great-grandchildren Coleman and Lizzy Davis, Lauren and Meredith Thomas, and Amanda Rodgers a sister, Winnie Adams Payne of Windsor, VA. Friends and family visitation will be from 12:30-2:00pm on Thursday, December 4th, followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
