Mrs. Pearl Bowers White, age 96, of Dobson was carried away on Angel's wings on Saturday afternoon, September 21, 2013.She was born in Surry County on August 3, 1917 to the late John Sanford and Martha Ida Mayes Bowers. Affectionately known as "Mama Pearl", she was retired from Tultex Industries after 35 years
of service and a faithful, dedicated member of Salem Fork Baptist Church where she lovingly decorated the church with roses she grew in her own garden. Her gentle, loving spirit and beautiful smile touched everybody who loved her. "Mama Pearl" leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Nancy Potter of Dobson, NC
and Bonnie Venable of Belews Creek, NC; grandchildren Elizabeth White, Kerry Venable II, Christi Hazelwood, Kenneth Gwyn, Debbie and Sam White; great grandchildren Kerry "Tripp" Venable III, Laken White, Kaley Poindexter,Nicholas and Colby White; and a very special grea-granddaughter Kayla Templeton Nixon, whom she not
only loved beyond measure but also was quite proudly instrumental in Kayla's raising and nurturing; a sister, Ila Layell of State Road; numerous special nieces, nephews and a multitude of dear friends. In addition to her parents, her dear husband Grady Columbus White and their beloved son Grady "Billy" White; two sisters,
Minnie Watson and Mamie Bell Bowers; four brothers, Roy, James, Reece and Wheeler Bowers were waiting at Heaven's Gates to welcome her in. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Salem Fork Baptist Church by the Rev. Van Brindle, the Rev. J.R. Nations and the Rev. Benny Norman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 pm until the hour of the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Salem Fork Baptist Church Cemetery Fund,555 Twin Oaks Road Elkin, NC 28621
