Mrs. Rannie Hodges White, 98, of Elkin passed away on Monday September 12, 2011 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry County on September 9, 1913 to the late James Samuel Hodges and Betty Jane White Hodges. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George Washington White; two daughters June Shears, Georgia Hall; a granddaughter Misty Hall; a great grandson Andrew Lawson; six sisters and seven brothers. Mrs White was a homemaker and a member of Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter Mary Lou Lawson of Mt. Airy, NC; two sons and daughter-in-law Homer and Virginia White of Dobson, NC, Oscar White of High Point, NC; twelve grandchildren Mark and Ila White of Ruffin, NC, Barry and Tracy White of Elkin, NC, Todd and Dawn White of Jonesville, NC, Mike and Nancy Lawson of Mt. Airy, NC, Lewis and Cheryl Lawson of Galax, VA, David and Frankie Lawson, of Siloam, NC, Rebecca Lawson of Mt. Airy, NC, T. Scott and Lori White of Matthews, NC, Nick and Jennifer White of Henderson, NV, Chad Hall of Mt. Airy, NC, Melody Wallace of Diamond Bar California, Timothy Shears of California; twenty one great grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren. A special friend Moses Durham of Elkin. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday September 14, 2011 at Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Elder Avery Branch and Elder Joey Jenkins will conduct the services. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, NC. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home 947 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the White Family.
