Mrs. Rebecca Ann Hooker Flinchum, 61 of Lawsonville, North Carolina passed away Friday March 28, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born in Patrick County on June 3, 1952 to the late Merritt Hooker and Dorothy Puckett Hooker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eula Mae Hooker Flinchum and Carlene Hooker Bullins, a brother, Clifford Hooker and a special nephew, Tommy Hooker. Mrs. Flinchum had served as the original coordinator for the J.T.P.A.-H.R.D. program for Stokes County. She was a loving and devoted wife, mama, nana, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and care giver.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Steve E. Flinchum of the home; three children, Kimberley Bowman Lawson & husband, Jimmy, Kevin Charles Bowman, and Leandra Bowman Tilley & husband, Tommy all of Lawsonville, North Carolina; two step-children, Johnny "Richie" Flinchum & wife, Amy of Walnut Cove, North Carolina and Stevie Flinchum of Westfield, North Carolina; six granddaughters, Kara "Shelly" Lawson, Krista "Kricket" Lawson, Kayla "Kay" Lawson, Allea "Chee Chee" Tilley, Emme "Emster" Tilley and Heather Nicole Bowman; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Forister Hooker & wife Inez, Fred Hooker & wife, Lillian and Gurney Hooker all of Lawsonville, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Flinchum will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Fairview Pentecostal Holiness Church with Marcus Hooker, Rev. Allen Dawson, and Mary Lee Burnette officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Minnie's Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Fairview Pentecostal Holiness Church and at other times at the home.
