Mrs. Runelle Payne Evans Cagle, 86 of Mt. Airy passed away at Forsyth Medical Center Tuesday, July 8, 2014. She was born in Carroll County, VA to the late Columbus H. "Lum" and Annetta Westmoreland Payne. Mrs. Cagle retired from Mt. Airy City Schools and was a dedicated member of Epworth United Methodist Church for over 70 years. During those years, she served extensively as a Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, was a member and officer of the Women's Circle Meeting, member of the administrative board and served along with her husband, Bobby Cagle, as delegates at the 100th anniversary of Lake Junaluska United Methodist Conference. Mrs. Cagle loved the Lord and ministered to others through visits, food and her warm smile. Her belief might be summed up with the verse "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the Glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). She is survived by her husband, Robert " Bobby" Cagle of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay Evans Doss and Ronnie, Amelia Evans Odell and Doug, Angie Newman and Joey all of Mt. Airy, Melody Cagle of Cana; a son and daughter-in-law, Brad Cagle and Angie, also of Cana; grandchildren, Justin Dunlap, Austin Newman, Maggie Odell, Evann Shelnutt, Jessica Shelnutt, Lenzi Cagle, Ronnie Doss, Crystal Doss and Carolyn Doss; a sister, Linda Payne and friend, David Shelton of Mt. Airy; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Donna Payne of Cana and Raymond and Kathy Payne of Mt. Airy, Gloria Payne of Cana and Olga Payne of Colorado Springs. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cagle was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnnie Evans; daughters, Pamela Joan Evans, Cindy Evans Wheeler; two sisters, Lucille Semones and Annie Ruth Payne; four brothers, Ralph (Eugene), Bernie, Columbus and Charles Ray Payne. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM Friday, July 11, 2014 at Epworth United Methodist Church with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dennis "Bud" Cameron and Rev. Ewell Vernon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, Building Fund, P.O.
