Mrs. Ruth Coalson Hamlin

Mrs. Ruth Coalson Hamlin, age 76 , of Elkin entered the Portals of Heaven on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Surry County on March 31, 1938 to the late Clifford and Susie Puckett Coalson. Mrs. Hamlin was retired from Surry Central High School cafeteria and a faithful member of Gum Orchard Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who lived her life in service for the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Misty and husband Buddy Jones of Mebane, Greg Hamlin of Youngsville and Ricky and Jennifer Hamlin of Elkin; six special grandchildren, Shelby Hamlin, Karsten Hamlin, Amber Jones, Lindsey Jones, Ethan Jones and Sarah-Beth Jones; a sister, Geneva Nixon of Pfafftown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mac Coalson, Ethel Coalson, Jimmy and Karen Coalson all of Dobson, Vernice Wall of Rural Hall and Marvin Laster of Elkin; one aunt, Lucille Riggans of White Plains; an uncle, Wade Puckett of Dobson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wendell Hamlin, and a brother, Mitchell Coalson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Gum Orchard Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe Lambert and the Rev. James Hobernitch, with burial to follow in Salem Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Monday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where her body will remain until time to be carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice 945 Zephyr Road Dobson, NC 27017; Gum Orchard Baptist Church or to the Zephyr Ruritan Club.
