Mrs. Sally Ruth Rogers Tatum, 78, of Stuart passed away Saturday at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on March 8, 1935. She was preceded in death by her father, Wesley Walter Rogers and her husband of 59 years, David Towler Tatum.
She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church; she had worked for Dupont for 10 years before going to work as the secretary for PARC Workshop where she retired after 20 years of service. Sally was a loving wife, mom, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt and friend; who enjoyed gardening, knitting and playing scrabble and card games.
Mrs. Tatum is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wesley Towler Tatum and wife, Sharon of Stuart and David Patrick Tatum of the home; two grandchildren, Cassandra Elizabeth Tatum and Cameron Patrick Tatum, her mother, Rachel Rogers of Stuart and two sisters, Frances Reynolds and husband Carlton of Greensboro, N.C. and Maxine Howell of Stuart and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tatum will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday December 23, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Mark Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time for the service and at other times at the home of her son Wesley, 3930 Ayers Orchard Rd.
