Mrs. Sarah Jo Jackson, 80, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at Central Continuning Care in Mt. Airy. Mrs. Jackson was born in Surry County on April 16, 1932 to the late Joseph and Myrtle Hawks McBride. She was retired from Bassett Furniture Company. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Ricky Hall, Linda and Donald Lee all of Mt. Airy; three grandchildren and spouses, Penny and Richie Haynes, Amanda and David Slate, Jennifer and Stephen Darby all of Mt. Airy; seven great grandchildren, Gray Haynes, Daniel Mikolay, Mackenzie Haynes, Justin Slate, Nathan Slate, Brandon Slate and Summer Darby; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Alene Jarrell, Imogene and Sam Collins, Mary Sue and Bobby Burkhart, Jack Freeman, Clinton McCraw all of Mt. Airy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, C.J. and Thelma McBride, Tommy and Iona McBride, Annie McBride all of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gray Jackson; four sisters, Josephine Leonard, Raven Freeman, Maybell Coalson and Ruth McCraw; a brother, Fred McBride. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Hall and Rev. Cliff Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Central Continuing Care, Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and Northern Hospital for their loving care given to Mrs. Jackson.
