Mrs. Susan Fleming Cosper

Mrs. Susan Elaine (Fleming) Cosper, age 60 of Greensboro, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, March 20, 2012 with her family by her side. She endured a 14 month battle against lung cancer with grace, courage and a strong spirit. Susan was born in Mt. Airy, North Carolina on September 6, 1951 to Paul "Rookie" and Joanna Forkner Fleming. She was a 1969 graduate of Mt. Airy Senior High School and attended Randolph Technical Institute. She was retired from the United States Postal Service. Susan will be remembered for her sense of style, her keen wit and extraordinary culinary skills. She proudly displayed her patriotism in every aspect of her life and never ceased to remind us all how blessed we are to live in the USA. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother who enjoyed being "Mimi". She was predeceased by both parents and survived by her husband, Richard Cosper , daughter, Lisa Nowlin (Kevin) of Greensboro; sister, Theresa Hazel of St. Johns, FL., Brother-in-law Robert Cosper (Angie) of Greensboro; Grandchildren, Sean and Emma Nowlin; the father of her daughter, Randy Smith, and her loyal Yorkie, Lily. She also leaves behind nephews, nieces and a host of cousins who will all miss her dearly. The family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for assisting us in allowing Susan to spend the last weeks of her life at home surrounded by family and friends. Special appreciation goes to her friend and co-worker, Sue Ewell, who spent many hours keeping her company and two cousins, Diane Wilson and Anna Templeton for their comfort and care during her final days. Visitation and luncheon reception will be held at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church, 2063 South Main St., Mt. Airy, NC on Saturday, March 24th from 12:30 to 2:00pm where we will share food, fellowship and memories of her life. Funeral services will be held promptly at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary with interment following at Oakdale Cemetery. Reverend Richard Loman and Dr. Joe Giaritelli will officiate.
