Mrs. Susan Naomi Nichols Walker

Mrs. Susan Naomi Walker, 92 of Mt. Airy passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on January 25, 1923 to the late Alexander Leonard and Mary Jane Creed Nichols. Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and attended Westside Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She was known by everyone as "Ma". She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader, loved to work puzzles and make plastic canvas crafts. She loved music and liked to dance. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Susan Paulette and Bruce Gwyn of Mt. Airy, Mary and Ricky White of Dobson; sons and daughter-in-law, Eric Ross Walker, and John Taylor and wife, Dawn Walker all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, April Walker, Tony Gwyn and wife, Casey Wilson, Thomas Gwyn and wife, Phyllis, Paula Walker and fiancé, Steven Hiatt, John "Mikey" Walker, Jacob White and Andrew White; one great grandchild, Naomi Eleanor Gwyn. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Walker; and two brothers, Howard Nichols and Posey Nichols. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Steve Johnson will be officiating with special remarks by Dr. David Sparks. Burial will follow at Westside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
