Mrs. Vada Ballard Martin

Mrs. Vada Irene Ballard Martin age 98, of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Martin was born in Forsyth County on October 7, 1914 to Harmon and Mary Jones Ballard. She was one of the founding members of Central United Methodist Church where she was a devoted member and served in many capacities there. Surviving is a sister, Norma Anderson of Damascus, VA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Parker Martin, sisters, Carolyn Lane and Lorette Ballard and by a brother, Harold Ballard. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Central United Methodist Church by Rev. Jim Pyatt. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home.
