Mrs. Velma Coe Binkley

Mrs. Velma Coe Binkley, 84, of Dobson passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was surrounded by her loving family as she passed into eternity. Born in Surry County on June 7, 1929, she was the third of eight children in the family of the late Oscar and Ruth Coe. Mrs. Binkley retired from Ciba-Geigy, where she worked in the Sales Support Division, following nearly 20 years of service. She was an active and faithful member of Fair Oaks Gospel Chapel in Winston-Salem for many years. After moving to Dobson, she became a member of Double Creek Church of Christ, her original home fellowship. She will long be remembered for her tireless efforts in support of her husband, children and friends. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, she leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 58 years, James D. "Jim" Binkley of the home; a daughter, Carolyn Coe Binkley Harrison and husband Jay of Charlotte; a son, James M. "Mike" Binkley and wife Trish of Clemmons; four wonderful grandchildren, Haley and Layne Harrison, and Kayla and Kristen Binkley; one sister, Hazel Coe Young of Rural Hall; three brothers, Dennis Coe and wife Barbara of Dobson; Waldo William Coe and wife Glenda of Winston-Salem; and Ron and wife Raynelle Coe of King. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Evelyn Coe Rhodes; and brothers Rex Coe and Roy Coe. A private graveside service will be held by the family at Double Creek Church of Christ by Rev. Roger Sickmiller. A celebration of her life will be held at 6 pm on Monday at Double Creek Church of Christ with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Double Creek Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, 674 Double Creek Road Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Forsyth Medical Center for their tender and compassionate care.
