Mrs. Viola Johnson Anderson

Mrs. Viola Johnson Anderson, age 88, of Mount Airy passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in Germanton, at the home of her daughter. She was born in Surry County on June 5, 1926 to the late Jackson Andrew and Lizzie Venable Johnson. She was a proud farmer and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters and a son-in-law, Frances and David Hester of Germanton and Pam Smith, with whom she made her home, of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Margaret Anderson of Siloam; five grandchildren and spouses, Donald and Robin Johnson, Mike and Nancy Cockerham, Jamie and Nathan Strom, Susie and Danny Poindexter and Candi and Lindsay Fernandez; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one brother and three sisters-in-law, Sam and Mozelle Johnson of King, Vernie Johnson of Pilot Mountain and Edith Anderson of Mount Airy; and one brother-in-law, Richard Crump of Pilot Mountain. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Roscoe Anderson; two sisters, Stella Fletcher and Myrtle Crump; and a brother, Robert Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, January 9, 2015 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by Chaplain Jason Kline and Speaker Frances Hester with burial to follow in Pine Hill Friends Meeting cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
