Mrs. Violet Crotts Hawks

Mrs. Violet Rennie Crotts Hawks, age 75 of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hawks was born in Carroll County on April 4, 1939 to Bud and Media Edwards Crotts. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Surviving is a daughter, Tina Haynes Edwards; sons, Junior Crotts and Buddy Hawks; grandchildren, Michelle Lyons and fiancé Kenneth Harrold , Cory Haynes and wife Megan, Larry Hawks and Matthew Johnson; five great grandchildren; sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Ruth Goodson, Rebbie Callahan, and Nina and Doug Felts and a brother and sister-in-law, Darvel and Lennis Crotts. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Allen Hawks; daughters, Glenda Hawks and Shirley Hawks; sisters, Cecil Callahan and Mary Margaret Crotts and brothers, Odell Crotts, Monroe Crotts and Jim Crotts and a special friend James Sweeny. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Closer Walk Baptist Church by Rev. Doug Cockerham and Elder Woody Edwards. Mrs. Hawks will lie in state at the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home.
