Mrs. Virginia Clara Dunkley Gammons

Mrs. Virginia Clara Dunkley Gammons age 79 of 369 Mt. Herman Church Road, Mt. Airy, NC widow of Mr. Gilmer H. Gammons passed away Monday, October 20, 2014 at her home. She was born November 15, 1934 in Stokes County to the late Dewey and Lettie Overby Dunkley. She was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren and loved working in her flowers. Mrs. Gammons attended Blue Hollow Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Clara Gammons Horton and Mark of Galax, VA, a son and daughter-in-law, Willie Gammons and Amanda of Mt. Airy, three grandchildren, Katelyn Gammons, David Gammons and Brian Gammons all of Mt. Airy, a sister-in-law, Beulah Mae Gammons of Winston-Salem, two aunts, Alma Dunkley of Francisco, and Maggie Overby of Stuart, VA. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Rickey Martin. Burial will follow in Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home.
