Mrs. Virginia Rea "Ginny" York

Ms. Virginia Rea "Ginny" York, age 74 of Dobson passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born in Carroll County, Virginia on July 8, 1939 to the late John William and Cora Alta Horton York. Being the first member of her family to complete college, she proudly earned her Bachelors Degree from Gardner-Webb University and retired as a Social Worker from the Yadkin County Department of Social Services. Her memory will long be cherished by her loving children, Cindy Dalton of Boonville, Carolyn and husband Michael Shockley of Tobaccoville, Lisha and husband Sidney Trivette of Hamptonville, and her only son, Kennedy and wife Angela Dalton of Sandy Hook, VA; twelve grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a brother, John and wife Joann York of Mountain Park. In addition to her parents, Ms. York was preceded in death by two sisters, her twin, Cora Lee Horton and Estelle Springs. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday May 25, 2014 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Community Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6 to 8 pm. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Woltz Hospice Home for their excellent care and compassion.
