Mrs. Wreathie Belcher Hylton, age 93 of Bassett, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at her home. She was born in Patrick County on December 22, 1921 to the late Robert (Rob) Belcher and Indie Boyd Belcher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hylton was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie Clyde Hylton; two sons-in-law, Thomas Lee Barker and Otis Lee Chaney; a daughter-in-law, Joy Hylton; a granddaughter, Mary Jane Hylton; a grandson, Milbert Wayne Hylton; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Quroze; a sister, Winnie Belcher Hylton; and six brothers, Winfred, Wayne, Lester, Wesley, Waller and Albert Belcher.
She worked at Bassett Chair for several years, was a caregiver for many years, and later retired from Bassett Walker. She loved the Lord and taught her children and grandchildren of God's goodness. She was faithful to her church, Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she attended for over 60 years. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens, cooking, canning and quilting.
Precious memories of their mother are left to five daughters and three sons and their spouses, Ellen and Odell Belcher of Meadows of Dan, Elaine and Clinton Hylton, Clyde Hylton and friend, Betty Wagoner, Clinton and Judy Hylton, all of Bassett, Clayton and Ella Sue Hylton of Stuart, Joyce and Morris Clark of Bassett, Elvie Chaney of Bassett and friend, Richard Bryant of Cloverdale; and Delcie and Jeff Miller of Elgin, Texas. She also leaves 16 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Sam Belcher and wife, Lillian of Woolwine; four sisters-in-law, Helena Belcher of Woolwine, Carrie Fralin of Bassett, Lony and Thurman Hall of Woolwine and Liddy Boothe of Stuart; as well as many nephews and nieces whom she loved.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hylton will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Kenneth Terry and her grandson, Pastor Tim Hylton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with grandsons Troy Wood, Norman Wood, Raymond Hylton, Ben Hylton, Dwayne Clark and Joshua Leviner serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
