Ms. Betty Jean Williamson Dowell

Ms. Betty Jean Williamson Dowell, age 85 of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Ms. Dowell was born in Surry County on June 4, 1929 to Robert and Mary Jane Bumgardner Williamson. Ms. Dowell really loved her more than twenty years while at Snappy Lunch. She was also a loving mother, grandmother and wonderful friend to so many, especially her Wendy's group. Ms. Dowell was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. Left to cherish her sweet memory are a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Judy Culler Dowell of Pfafftown; a granddaughter, Jessica Dowell Gajewski and husband Adam of Winston-Salem and numerous special friends. In addition to her parents, Ms. Dowell was preceded in death by a sister, Polly Gant and a brother, Robert "Red" Williamson. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 19, 2014 at Oakdale Cemetery by Dr. Darrell Tate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at Moody Funeral Home.
