Ms. Brenda Joan Rakes Myers

Ms. Brenda Joan Rakes Myers, age 66 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. She was born in Patrick County on July 1, 1948. She was preceded in death by a son, Barry Gene Simmons and her father, Coy Rakes. She was a member of Harvest Worship Center, and had been a secretary for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Industry in Winston-Salem, NC. She was a very caring and loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt.

Ms. Myers is survived by her mother, Mabel Dalton Rakes of Stuart; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Roger Mabe of Woodlawn, Norma and Tim Goard of Stuart, Carol and R. J. Hall of Stuart, Ruth Bushnell of Woolwine; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor David Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Rakes-Martin Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
