Ms. Debra Lynne Critz Simmons

Ms. Debra Lynne Critz Simmons, age 52 of Mt. Airy passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. She was born in Surry County on August 31, 1959 to Jack Critz, Sr. and the late Iris Loline Sowers Critz. Ms. Simmons worked at Cross Creek Apparel and Hampton Inn. She was a member of Grace Covenant Church. In addition to her father, Ms. Simmons is survived by her son, Casey Simmons of the home; a sister, Amy Mundy of Mt. Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack "Andy" Critz, Jr. and wife, Jan of Dobson; mother-in-law, Joella Winkler of Mt. Airy; a sister-in-law, Jan Phillips of Summerville, SC; nephews, Taylor Mundy of Mt. Airy, Dustin Kirby and wife, Treva of Monks Corner, SC; niece Heather J. Johnson of Lowgap; great nieces, Karleigh Collins and "EV" Kirby. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Betty Jean Gwyn, Pat Gardner, Joy Hawks, Beverly Gunter and all the many special friends and cousins that have been so gracious with their time and love during Debra's sickness. They would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the wonderful care given to Debra during her illness. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Dennis Barnette. The family will accept friends on Friday at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
