Ms. Irene Pruitt Mears

Mrs. Irene Pruitt Mears age 89 of 125 Woodcove Dr., Mt. Airy, NC widow of Mr. William Lloyd Mears received her angel wings and went to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 5, 1925 in Surry County to the late Taylor and Susan Rogers Pruitt. She was a member of Mt. Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Wayne and Kitty Mears of the home, Richard Mears of Winston-Salem, and Alvin and Tammy Mears of Siloam, a grandson and wife, Camron and Crystal Reid of Mt. Airy and a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Daisy Pruitt of Mt. Airy, and two “special nieces”, Yvonne Kambourelis of Houston, TX and Mildred Wray of Mt. Airy and other nieces and nephews. In addition to her loving husband of 57 years and parents, Mrs. Mears was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertie Edwards, Nannie Lou Venable and Carrie McHone and five brothers, Wesley Pruitt, Herman Pruitt, Amos Pruitt, Clyde Pruitt and Lee Pruitt. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Tommy Vass, Rev. Lee Freeman, Rev. Wayne Mears and Rev. Brian Frazier. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Saturday at Moody Funeral Home.
