Ms. Joan Lea Murray

Ms. Joan Lea Murray, age 60, of Dobson, NC a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away at her daughters home on Friday morning January 10, 2014. She was born in Sullivan County, NH on February 13, 1953 to the late Clayton and Anita Leckner Murray. She was a retired CNA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother Jerry Murray. Surviving are two daughters Angela Abbas of Dobson, Analysa Johnson of Elkin, four sons Shawn Hamel of King, Michael Hamel of King, Gary Carpenter Jr. of Vermont, Chad Carpenter of NH; seven grandchildren Nicqui Perry, Samantha Abbas, Delbert Abbas, Elizabeth Carpenter, Alyssa Hamel, Morgan Hamel, Madyson Johnson; a great grandchild Bradley Perry; eight sisters Betty Gierko, Peggy Murray, Shirley DeCouto, Vicky Goodhue, Shelia McKinney, Glenora Bennett, Gail Murray; three brothers Douglas Murray, Robert Murray, Jackie Murray. A Memorial service will be held 5:00 P.M. Sunday in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, with Rev. Bill Jenkins and Rev. Allen Jenkins conducting the services. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour before the Memorial service from 4:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.
