Ms. Mary kathryn Dezort Boyd

Ms. Mary Kathryn Dezort Boyd, age 66 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She was born in Norfolk on December 29, 1947 to the late Frank Dezort and Lillian Kathryn Watkins Dezort. In addition to her parents, Ms. Boyd was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Boyd, and a brother, Claude Frederick Frank. She was of the Catholic faith. She had been a Phlebotomist for the Red Cross. She was a member of the Mountain Top Quilter's Guild, a special group of women who were with her through the good times and bad. She was also a member of the Meadows of Dan Booster Club and the Mountain Top Recreation Park Association. She was a wonderful devoted Mom, Gram and Great-grandmother.
Ms. Boyd is survived by a special friend, Jerry Dean Boyd of Meadows of Dan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Roger Quesinberry and Dyan and Ronnie Handy, all of Meadows of Dan; six grandchildren, Lee Walton and wife, Karen, Danielle Boyd, Adam Martin, Emily Handy, Melanie Handy and Jessica Handy; a step grandson, Michael Grey; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arthur Frank of Beaver, Pennsylvania.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor John Franklin and Pastor Tammy Franklin officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Vesta Community Center.
